SUMMARY:Lions Vision Screening  - Grades 3 and 6
DESCRIPTION:The Aberdeen Lions Club is pleased to offer our &ldquo\;Your V
 ision is Our Vision&rdquo\; program. This no cost program is designed to 
 assist in identifying children in our community with vision problems. All
  students in grade 3 and 6 will be eligible.\n\nYour child&rsquo\;s eyes 
 will be checked using a Vision Screener. The Vision Screener is a handhel
 d portable device designed to quickly and easily detect vision issues. Bo
 th eyes will be screened from a non-threatening 3 foot distance. The scre
 ener accurately detects the possibility of these common vision problems:\
 n\n- Hyperopia: farsightedness\n\n- Myopia: nearsightedness\n\n- Astigmat
 ism: blurred vision\n\n- Anisometropia: unequal refractive power\n\n- Gaz
 e: eye alignment measurement\n\n- Anisocoria: unequal pupil size\n\nIf re
 sults suggest further screening and possibly eyeglasses are required\, pa
 rents will be notified and can make arrangements with an Optometrist of t
 heir choice for further assessment. There is no charge for the assessment
  by the Optometrist as it is covered by your Medical Services Plan.\n\nTh
 e goal of this project is to ensure children with vision issues are ident
 ified in order that corrective action may be taken.\n\nThe Aberdeen Lions
  Club will also offer financial assistance should there be a need.
